Culinary Medicine Certificate

This certificate prepares professionals with cutting edge knowledge in plant-based nutrition science combined with practical approaches on what to eat for 疾病 prevention and treatment.

The online 研究生 Certificate in Culinary Medicine is designed for those with health care degrees or individuals who are interested in learning how to integrate nutrition science with food preparation and 疾病 prevention. This includes physicians, healthcare workers and anyone with a bachelor’s degree who complete the prerequisite courses in nutrition & 疾病.

Currently 60 percent of American adults and many children now live with at least one chronic 疾病, and more than 40 percent have been diagnosed with two or more. Data from 190 countries analyzed by The Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation on global burden of 疾病 reports that “what people eat, and fail to eat is the leading cause of 疾病 and death. The 研究生 certificate will focus on the pathophysiology, and evidenced-based prevention, and treatment of diet-impacted 疾病s by incorporating plant-based eating into a patient’s lifestyle, 包括烹饪, 膳食计划, 时间限制, cultural considerations 和预算.

The curriculum includes a practical application of learning, ending with a culinary medicine conference and leading out in a workshop. 学生 who complete this certificate will complement their degree and can work as nutrition coaches, lifestyle intervention counselors, and health ministry or healthcare industry leaders.

  • Completion of a health care-related bachelor’s degree or non-healthcare related bachelor’s degree and completion of a Nutrition & 疾病过程. Have an overall GPA of at least 3.00 in undergraduate courses
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose
